The Story of Ahmedia
Ahmedia Paint & Hardware is a family run hardware store founded in 1964 by the Late Mr Adam Ahmed and his wife, the Late Mrs Hawa Ahmed. Together, they opened the first Ahmedia Paint & Hardware in Rylands Estate, where they served the community for 20 Years.
From the mid 1980’s, under the guidance of the Late Mr Adam Ahmed, the brand expanded to multiple locations around the Cape Peninsula:
1964: Ahmedia Paint & Hardware
1980: Rylands Paint & Hardware
1985: Eersteriver Paint & Hardware
1991: Wellington Paint & Hardware
1996: Strand Paint & Hardware
With the driving force of their second son, the Late Mr Abdulmajid Ahmed and his wife, Mrs Fatima Ahmed, Ahmedia Paint & Hardware was relocated in 1999 to a bigger premises in Klipfontein Road, Surrey Estate, Athlone. This was much needed as the store in Rylands Estate, where they had served for 15 years, was not big enough to accommodate the growing demand in the area. Mr & Mrs Ahmed expanded their store over the past 25 years, building relationships with the local community and serving them with excellent service and competitive pricing.
After the sudden passing of Mr Abdulmajid Ahmed in January 2021, his second second, Mr Rayhaan Ahmed, took the reigns of the store and has been upholding the Ahmedia Legacy, thus transitioning the business into its 3rd Generation. The store has undergone a major revamp over the past year, and has finally launched into being a State of the Art Retail Store showcasing the latest trends and products at amazing prices with only the best customer service.
